19-year-old shot inside Cleveland Public Library branch dies; library shut down while police investigate

Community reeling after 19-year-old killed following Cleveland Public Library shooting

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The South Brooklyn branch of the Cleveland Public Library was shut down on Tuesday evening after a young man was shot in one of the facility’s public bathrooms.

The shooting occurred at 4303 Pearl Road, and the man was rushed to MetroHealth hospital.

He was listed in critical condition and eventually died from his injuries.

Police have not announced any arrests.

The library will reopen Thursday at noon, and counselors will be on hand.
