CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Cleveland Division of Police said the Homicide Unit is investigating after a woman was found dead in the 1300 block of West 93rd Street.
According to police, officers responded to the apartment at approximately 11:35 a.m. on Thursday for a wellness check on a resident after an odor was detected.
Police said friends of the resident unlocked the apartment when officers arrived.
Officers entered the apartment and found the resident was dead, according to police.
Police said the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner responded to the scene along with the Homicide Unit.
The initial examination revealed possible blunt force trauma to the head, according to the police report.
According to police, the body has not been able to be positively identified due to decomposition.
Police said the body was taken to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation.
Editor’s Note: Earlier, Cleveland Division of Police Public Information Officer Jennifer Ciaccia told 19 News the body was of a 70-year-old man. Her later report listed the victim as an “unidentified female.”
