CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Medina County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that a semi truck on fire on I-71 Friday morning, Sept. 13 shut down all northbound traffic as crews battle the blaze.

The fire was at mile marker 208, just north of I-76.

By 9:37 a.m. the Ohio Department of Transportation tweeted the left shoulder of the road had been opened, however traffic was still moving very slowly.

ODOT UPDATE:

UPDATE (as of 9:37am): The left shoulder has been opened to traffic. Emergency and ODOT personnel are directing traffic around the incident; however, traffic is still moving very slowly. Drive with caution in the area.

I-71 northbound between Avon Lake Road and I-76 is closed.

At the Sheriff’s office was unable to confirm, when the road would reopen.
