‘Jeopardy!’ contestants share stories and words of support on Alex Trebek’s diagnosis

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Few people feel more connected to famed “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek than the contestants he works with on the beloved game show.

We gathered three former contestants to hear their thoughts on Trebek’s choice to be so public about his pancreatic cancer diagnosis, and we listened to their opinions on the future of the show.

Andrew Pau is an associate professor of music theory at Oberlin College. He won several games and was a participant on the most recent Tournament of Champions.

Steven Oppenheim, a local accountant, was a one-time Jeopardy! champion and a trivia whiz.

Matt Kish, a teacher in North Royalton, appeared in two shows and was on the day Trebek’s most recent contract extension was announced.
