Police: Up to 95 vehicles tied up in Tuesday morning’s chain-reaction crash on State Route 8

SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - Traffic came to a standstill on State Route 8 in Summit County as winter weather moved through the area, causing a massive chain-reaction crash.

Police closed southbound State Route 8 near the Seasons Road interchange around 11 a.m. on Tuesday because of the chain-reaction crash that occurred as road conditions worsened.

According to Hudson police between 75 and 95 vehicles were involved in the traffic tie-up.

State Route 8 reopened to traffic at approximately 2:30 p.m.

Crash investigators were also dispatched to the scene of a fatal crash in Summit County on the Ohio Turnpike. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said one person was killed and numerous other accidents were reported in the area.
