CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A bowl game is standard end to a good college football season. Win or lose, it is your last game of the year. Usually.

The 2019 Fiesta Bowl is more than your average bowl game this year, it is a semi-final game. Winner plays for the National Championship. “It’s kinda like an extra game for us,” said Ohio State defensive tackle Davon Henderson. “We’re going to try and enjoy it as much as we can, but understand we’ve got to win it to get to the next one.” The “next one” is the game the Buckeyes have had in their sights all year- the National Championship game against either LSU or Oklahoma.

It will be a disappointment for the Buckeyes if their season ends on Saturday. Ryan Day told reporters on Friday that he does not want to see this end, his players agree. “We definitely do not,” said defensive end Chase Young. “I am doing everything in my power and the leaders on this team are doing everything in their power to go out there and play the best game that we can play.”

The air is rare where Ohio State is right now. Only four teams are playing for the right to have one more game. Usually if a team loses a bowl game it is disappointing, but you can still look back at the year and think about went right. If the Buckeyes lose on Saturday, they will think more about what went wrong.
