CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Thousands of flowers are in bloom inside the Cleveland Botanical Gardens during the 2020 Orchid Mania show which runs through March 1.
“You’re going to be immersed in orchids,” Brian Gibbons, Director of Gardens and the Glasshouse at the Cleveland Botanical Gardens told 19 News.
Gibbons estimated the gardens will go through 4,000 orchids during the 45-day show.
“You’ll see a lot of different kinds of orchids, even for a novice, you can take a look at these orchids through the hallways, and the glasshouse and spot the difference,” Eva Rodriguez said.
The theme of the show this year is “Vibrant Vietnam” and celebrates the beauty of Vietnam and Vietnamese culture.
The hallway off the garden’s main corridor is designed to resemble a Vietnamese marketplace.
Rodriguez recommends the show to refresh if the winter weather has given you the blues.
“Cloudy, overcast, the grey, the maybe snow... this is an escape from all of that. Come and experience the smells, the sights of all these beautiful flowers,” Rodriguez told 19 News.
Admission to the show includes access to the Glasshouse which features a 16-foot pergola with hanging orchids built especially for this year’s show.
The show is a partnership between the Cleveland Botanical Gardens and the Friendship Foundation of the American Vietnamese.
