Cleveland Metroparks Zoo had species reveal on Valentine’s Day

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Cleveland Metroparks announced Thursday, the day before Valentine’s Day, that one its residents is pregnant and due very soon.

On Valentine’s Day the zoo used social media on to announce the orangutan is expecting. The new is expected to be arriving soon.

The zoo currently has four orangutans, one male and three females. It was discovered one female was pregnant during a routine pregnancy test.

Kera Wak or “Kera”, is pregnant and due to give birth soon. This will be Kera’s second offspring with sire, Tiram, following the birth of Merah in October 2014.

The zoo shared an ultrasound video and invited the public to guess what animal they think it may be.

On Valentine’s Day the zoo revealed which critter is on their way.

In 2019 the zoo announced the birth of Kesi and Azizi, two Crowned lemur babies who were born July 20, 2019.

The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo announced the birth of a second newborn Eastern black rhinoceros in 2018.
