CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Cleveland Division of Police confirmed a homicide investigation is underway after a 6-week-old boy died on Sunday morning.

Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said the baby died at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital at 5 a.m.

Officers responded to the hospital and learned that the child had been brought to the department by his parents with injuries that will be further examined by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office, according to Sgt. Ciaccia.

Sgt. Ciaccia said the medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of the baby boy’s death.

The identity of the baby has yet to be released.

According to Sgt. Ciaccia, no arrests have been made, however, police suspect violence.

Cleveland Police reminds the community that the homicide unit investigates all child fatality incidents.
