Homicide investigation underway after man found shot to death in Ohio City

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found dead with a gunshot wound in Ohio City late Thursday night, according to Cleveland Police.

Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said officers were called to the area of West 48th Street and Bridge Avenue for shots fired around 11 p.m.

Residents then found the body outside on a walkway near the back of a home in the 1800 block of West 47th Street, according to Sgt. Ciaccia.

Cleveland EMS pronounced him dead at the scene with a fatal gunshot wound in his thigh.

His identity has not yet been released.

Sgt. Ciaccia said officers on scene learned he got out of a car he was riding in and became involved in an argument with an unknown person inside the car who shot him.

Police do not have a description of the car nor the suspect at this time.
