(WOIO) - 84 people have drowned in the Great Lakes this year, according to the Great Lakes Surf Rescue Project (GLSRP).

12 of those drownings happened in Lake Erie.

Lake Michigan had the highest number of drownings of the Great Lakes, with 46 people dying in the lake and three more in unknown condition.

While temperatures are starting to cool down, GLSRP warns drownings happen year round.
