CUYAHOGA COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - Cuyahoga County Community College is cancelling spring sports, citing the wave of coronavirus infections sweeping the country and Northeast Ohio, according to a college press release.

The college decided to cancel baseball, softball, and women’s track for the second year in a row to protect athletes, coaches, and spectators, the release said.

It would be challenging to implement the precautions and protocols necessary to ensure a safe environment during games, meets, practices, and other sports-related activities, according to Tri-C.

Other colleges in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference have also decided to cancel sports this year because of the pandemic.

The college in June cancelled 2020 fall and winter athletics due to similar concerns.
