CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - One man is dead and another is hospitalized after a shooting at an after-hours party at a party center in Cleveland’s Kinsman neighborhood.
Shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday, police found a 23-year-old man in the street near the 3200 block of East 93rd Street, according to a Cleveland police press release.
Officers could hear gunshots from the direction of the party center while they were trying to help the 23-year-old.
Emergency medics transported the man to University Hospitals where he died.
Police say that the shootings occurred after a fight broke out inside the the party center.
A crowd was pushed out of the building and into the parking lot where the fight continued.
The 23-year-old was involved in the fight, according to police.
He pointed a gun at a man he was fighting with and at a security guard, who tried to break up the fight by drawing his own weapon.
An unknown person then fired a weapon and struck the 23-year-old and the security guard, according to police.
The security guard, aged 40, was taken to MetroHealth by a private vehicle.
He suffered gunshot wounds to his stomach and groin.
The police are investigating the death of the 23-year-old as a homicide.
