MAYFIELD, Ohio (WOIO) - Four additional students have been diagnosed with COVID-19, Mayfield Schools Superintendent Dr. Keith Kelly reported Tuesday.

Two of the students are Excel TECC students and two are Mayfield High School students.

Kelly said the high school students are also members of the varsity basketball team.

Effective immediately, all members of the varsity basketball team are in mandatory quarantine.

Kelly added additional COVID-19 tests are pending among other the varsity basketball players.

Team activities will resume Nov. 21 if all team members have completed quarantine and are symptom free, without the use of medications, said Kelly.

On Monday, Mayfield schools reported three high school students were infected with COVID-19 and about 24 high school staff members were in quarantine.

Tuesday was also the first day for Mayfield High School students to only do remote learning, due to the high number of COVID-19 cases and the number of people in quarantine.

Kelly said the earliest high school students could return to in-person learning would be after Thanksgiving break.
