Akron police arrest man for robbing women at Sheetz, Marc’s

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - Akron police arrested 35-year-old Jeffery Latimer for robbing two woman, one in a Sheetz and one in a Marc’s parking lot, Monday.

Around 4:55 p.m., police got a call about a robbery that happened at the Sheetz on West Waterloo Road.

The victim, a 44-year-old woman, told police she was in the store withdrawing cash from the ATM when Latimer grabbed the money from her hand.

Latimer drove away from the Sheetz in a silver Mercury.

Minutes later, just after 5 p.m., police received a second call reporting a robbery.

An 85-year-old woman said a man snatched her purse as she was loading groceries into her car in the Marc’s parking lot on East Waterloo Road.

The victim was knocked to the ground and suffered a minor injury. She was later taken to Barberton Hospital.

Police said Latimer fled the scene in a silver car.

The two robberies happened blocks and minutes apart.

Detectives later determined the robbery at the Marc’s happened first.

Police were able to track Latimer to a house on West Ingleside Drive in Conventry Township.

When officers arrived, they saw Latimer running from a silver Mercury Milan and into the house.

Using a search warrant, officers entered the house and found Latimer hiding.

Police also found some of the stolen property linking Latimer to the robberies at Sheetz and Marc’s.

Latimer is in Summit County Jail on two counts of Robbery, Obstructing Official Business, and Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments.
