CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Cleveland police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred late Monday night on the city’s West side.
According to investigators, police responded to West 99th Street near Denison Avenue just after 10 p.m. on Monday for reports of several shooting victims at the scene.
Detectives arrived and found a 23-year-old man in the backseat of a vehicle at the address, while two women, ages 18 and 22, were taken to MetroHealth Hospital by a private transport for treatment.
Police provided first aid to the male victim and paramedics took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
While investigating, homicide detectives learned that the three were traveling on West 98th Street when they passed under the I-90 overpass.
A white SUV pulled along the driver’s side and began firing shots into their vehicle, according to Cleveland police. The shooting victims then drove to the area of West 99th Street to to seek assistance.
The 23-year-old was shot multiple times in the body. The 22-year-old woman was also shot several times to her lower body, while the 18-year-old was cut from shattered glass.
The Gang Impact Unit assisted in the investigation.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is still ongoing.
