MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio (WOIO) - 46-year-old Al John Bush was killed overnight in what Maple Heights police are investigating as a homicide.
According to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner, Police found Bush dead just after midnight Wednesday at 5151 Lee Road.
Ernest Toles lives in the complex on Lee Road and he says it was just after midnight when he heard the gun fire.
“It was like 5 pops,” he said, “1-2-3-4-5 so it could have been a revolver, I can’t say.”
Toles says he feels pretty safe in the neighborhood and in his apartment and says his first reaction to the shots was to hit the ground.
“Get low, get low and turn off the lights and just try to document what you can,” he said.
Toles said he, at one point, took a peek out of his window but never saw the shooter or the victim.
He didn’t hear much of anything before the shooting but afterward heard some chatter from the parking lot.
“Don’t come out of the house later today or something like that, but I couldn’t tell you who it was. There were a lot of voices, a lot of lights,” he said.
No information about motives or suspects are known at this time.
