CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Outfielders Delino DeShields and Tyler Naquin, along with pitcher Jefry Rodriguez became free agents on Wednesday after the Indians did not tender 2021 contracts to them.
DeShields was a former first-round pick taken at No. 8 in 2010 and made his way to Cleveland for the 2020 season.
The Tribe took Naquin at No. 15 in 2012 and bumped him up to the Opening Day roster in 2016, the same season he hit that iconic walkoff, inside-the-park home run heard around the world that cemented his place in Indians’ history.
Rodriguez joined the Tribe for the 2019 season
The Indians tendered contracts to all other unsigned members of the 40-man roster, which currently has 37 players.
