Northeast Ohio fire department stresses importance of clearing snow from mailboxes, address numbers

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Chardon Fire Department issued an “urgent snow storm message” on Tuesday as much of the area was enveloped in a large blanket of snow.

The message urges residents to clear snow from mailboxes and address numbers so first responders can locate a home quickly.

“We have been on almost 50 calls today, and we are having trouble finding locations. We can’t help you if we can’t FIND you!!,” the Chardon Fire Department posted on Facebook on Tuesday.

Chardon and the rest of Geauga County were some of the hardest-hit areas during the region’s first major snowfall of the season. The sheriff’s office said thousands of phone calls were made to dispatchers during the snowstorm.
