AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - Two apartments were damaged in a fire Monday afternoon.

A resident called 911 around 12:30 p.m. saying there was heavy smoke and people banging on the doors to alert the occupants.

When Akron police officers arrived at the four-unit complex in the 400 block of Zanh Drive, they said flames were shooting out the windows.

Firefighters quickly put out the fire and said the cause remains under investigation.

The Red Cross is now helping three adults and four children.
