WESTLAKE, Ohio (WOIO) - Westlake Police confirmed officers cited Cleveland Browns WR Rashard Higgins and OT Jedrick Wills Jr. for drag racing on Tuesday.
Police said the two players were stopped by officers just before 9:30 a.m. for drag racing against each other in their individual cars by The Estates off Crocker Road.
A probable cause search for a car lead to officers finding a suspected marijuana joint and destroying it on camera, according to police.
However, police have yet to confirm if the probable cause search was conducted in Higgins or Wills’ car.
Capt. Gerald Vogel said the charges are already filed in Rocky River Municipal Court.
According to ESPN, Higgins took to Twitter on Tuesday evening regarding the drag racing citation.
In two since-deleted tweets, Higgins said his “foot slipped,” and he “was tryna get away from Covid,” according to ESPN.
Jedrick Wills Jr. kept his tweet up a bit longer, saying, “So nobody has ever tried to beat someone off the line at a red light for a max 30 meters? Ight.. Blowing it way out of proportion. Ik y’all road ragers have.”
A spokesman for the Cleveland Browns said, “We are aware of the incident, will gather more information and handle this matter appropriately.”
