AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - A 41-year-old man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after police found a loaded gun, drugs and cash during a traffic stop attempt.

Police said William Hill III pulled into a driveway around 5:30 p.m. near the 1000 block of Frederick Blvd. to avoid police, but was stopped anyway.

Police saw a handgun in the back seat of the his car as they approached, according to a statement.

Hill had exited the car beforehand and was detained while officers investigated, police said. He told police there were drugs in the car.

Officers recovered a loaded .45 caliber handgun, 74 grams of ecstasy pills, 15 grams of marijuana, over $800 in cash and other drug instruments during a search of the vehicle.

Hill faces charges of improper handling of firearm in motor vehicle, weapons under disability, trafficking in drugs and possession of marijuana.

Police took Hill to Summit County Jail.
