Sen. Brown strongly condemned the insurrection that has resulted in at least five fatalities, including the death of a Capitol police officer.

“Domestic terrorists, that’s what they were,” Sen. Brown said about the people involved in breaching the Capitol building.

A statement from Sen. Brown’s office claimed that the riot was “fueled by false election conspiracy theories promoted by President Donald Trump and several Congressional Republicans,” adding that all involved need to be held accountable.

The senator also expressed belief that race played a factor as to how security and law enforcement handled the incident in Washington, D.C.

“I think there is zero doubt that if this was a Black Lives Matter demonstration, that there would have been many, many more arrests, many more would have died,” Sen. Brown added.
