CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A 27-year-old mom was convicted of trying to murder her six-year-old son several times in 2019.

Cuyahoga County prosecutors said Dazshea Watkins abused the little boy between April 1, 2019 and Aug. 28, 2019.

Court documents show Watkins tried to drown him in a bathtub, smother him with a pillow and beat him in the head with a broom at their home on Anita Kennedy Road in Cleveland.

Watkins was arrested in September 2019.

She pleaded guilty on Jan. 7 to multiple charges: including, felonious assault, kidnapping, endangering children, domestic violence and attempted murder.

Watkins has been referred to a court psychiatric clinic and will be sentenced on Feb. 11 by Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Judge Deborah Turner.
