CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A woman’s purse was stolen while she was babysitting in the middle of the afternoon on Thursday.
The young woman, who wanted to remain anonymous, says she was babysitting at an Ohio City park.
She says when she turned her back for a moment to watch the child, the thief snatched her purse.
The crook was caught on a nearby surveillance camera.
“I just think that I’d be more aware of my surroundings and more on edge and just making sure that I keep my things safe and watch people around me,” she said.
The crime happened Thursday afternoon around 3:30 at a park near West 29th Street and Church Avenue.
As soon as the young woman realized her purse had been stolen, she called Cleveland Police.
“Well I heard like the little jingle on my purse and I knew the sound and I turned around and I saw him running,” the victim recalled. “I was watching her go down the slide, but I mean that’s all that matters, that everyone’s okay and the kids are okay.”
Police described the suspect as a man standing 5′11″ tall, weighing 160 pounds, wearing a black hoodie, black pants, a black hat, and brown boots.
If you recognize the man or have any information that can help, call contact Det. Murphy at 216-623-5217 or Crime Stoppers at 216-252-7463.
