LOUISVILLE, Ohio (WOIO) - A Louisville police cruiser was hit by an impaired driver while at the scene of a different car accident Sunday on Route 62.
The incident happened just after midnight Sunday.
Louisville police were at the scene of a single car accident on Route 62 eastbound between Broadway and California avenues.
While the car involved in the accident was being towed, an impaired driver hit and heavily damaged the police cruiser.
Nobody was in the cruiser at the time.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the cruiser was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Ohio State Highway Patrol came to the scene; after an investigation, the driver was charged with driving with a suspended license, operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI) and an Assured Clear Distance Ahead (ACDA) violation.
Police are warning people to use this as a lesson to not drive while impaired.
