AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) -Akron Police are on a mission, and they need the entire community to help them.
Monday, a 62-year-old woman was crossing the street between Arlington and Georgia when she was struck by a speeding car.
“Unfortunately after that, she was taken to the hospital and died. This is a tragic situation, and we are asking that anyone who saw anything to, please contact us,” said Lieutenant Michael Miller, lead spokesperson for the Akron Police
As of right now, authorities have informed 19 News that they are looking for a Toyota Camry.
The very spot that the 62-year-old body landed after the hit and run is now a memorial with balloons and candles for a woman that many in the area were familiar with.
“I just saw her yesterday. This hurts, and now Akron is hurting and need to find the person that did this and ran away,” said Jamel Miller, who works at the local store that the victim frequents.
