Man believed to have ties to Northeast Ohio wanted for allegedly assaulting federal officer during US Capitol riots

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The FBI is hoping the public can help identify a man wanted for his alleged involvement in assaulting a federal officer during the deadly Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol.

Investigators released two photos of the man seen in red, white, and blue face paint and said it’s believed he may have ties to Northeast Ohio, specifically in Summit County.

The man’s exact connection to the area cannot be detailed at this time, the FBI said.

Additionally, the severity of the officer’s injuries are not currently known.

Supporters of Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol building following his speech. Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick died after suffering a head injury while engaging with protesters, according to CBS News.

Anyone with information about the man’s identity is urged to call the FBI at 1-877-FBI-OHIO or the Summit County Crime Stoppers at 330-434-COPS.
