BRECKSVILLE, Ohio (WOIO) - The Illuminating Company on Thursday announced power grid upgrades are headed for eastern Cuyahoga County.

The upgrades will impact more than 20,000 customers in Solon, Chagrin Falls, Bedford Heights and nearby areas, according to a press release.

“These upgrades will allow us to restore service to our customers faster following severe weather events, as well as pave the way for a more robust power system,” Mark Jones, regional president of The Illuminating Company, said in a press release.

Here’s what customers can expect:

- Installation of 50 automated reclosing devices

- Additional power lines

- Installation of 70 capacitor banks

- Tree-trimming

- Equipment inspections

These upgrades were prioritized after Nov. and Dec. storms caused damages and power outages in the Solon area, according to a statement from The Illuminating Company.
