CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Owner of Colossal Cupcakes Kelly Kandah reopened her downtown location Monday morning.
May 30, 2020 is a night she won’t forget.
Kandah was inside the store and had to hide in the backroom when vandals ransacked her store.
This is how the store was left and this is what it looks like now.
“It was difficult. We had to pretty much start from scratch,” she said.
Customers were already seen flocking to the shop Monday morning to get their favorite cupcakes.
Being a loyal customer, Myia Magana was sad to see the business shut down.
“It was a little disappointed because they are one of the best dessert places down here,” she said.
Kandah told 19 News she’s grown stronger from the traumatizing incident she experienced back in May.
To sum it all up, she’s looking forward to a future where downtown businesses start to thrive again.
“We’re here and I’m just so happy we’ve had so much support from the city and all of our customers in the community, which really enabled us to do it in the first place,” she added.
