AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - Akron police arrested three people after an AR-15, two handguns and ammunition were found during a traffic stop Saturday evening.

Akron police said they pulled over the driver, Kemarionte Dowd, 20, because his vehicle matched the description involved in a shots fired call from March 22.

Dowd was taken into custody after officers said they found a loaded AR-15 rifle wedged between the seats and a loaded AR-15 magazine in the center console.

Dowd is charged with improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle.

Police said a 16-year-old male sitting in the front seat admitted to having a loaded handgun on him.

He is also charged with improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle and carrying a concealed weapon.

According to police, one of the back seat passengers, Jontae Watkins, 21, had a loaded 23-round magazine at his feet and a gun under the front passenger seat.

He allegedly admitted to putting the weapon there and is charged with improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle.

Two other passengers were not charged.
