Cleveland preschooler taken to hospital after teacher’s aid is accused of assault

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A 4-year-old boy was taken to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital from St. Aloysius – St. Agatha School after he was reportedly assaulted Tuesday, according to Cleveland EMS.

Emergency personnel were called to the school in Cleveland’s Glenville neighborhood shortly before 12:30 p.m., EMS said.

The boy was in stable condition.

Cleveland police confirmed that they are investigating the allegation.

A pastor with the St. Aloysius-St. Agatha Parish confirmed that an accusation was made regarding one of the teacher’s aides at the school in a statement released Tuesday afternoon.

The statement reads:

At St. Aloysius – St. Agatha School the wellbeing and safety of our students is our top priority. Today police responded to an allegation that one of our teacher’s aides engaged in physically abusive behavior. We take allegations of this nature very seriously. The accused teacher’s aid has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation by civil authorities.
