Sheffield Village husband pleads not guilty to shooting 73-year-old wife

LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - A Sheffield Village husband charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting his 73-year-old wife pleaded not guilty in Avon Lake Municipal Thursday morning.

The judge ordered Ronald Diamond, 72, held without bond.

Deborah Diamond survived the shooting, but her condition is not being released.

Sheffield Village police responded to the couple’s home on Preserve Lane around 1 a.m. Monday after getting a call for a gunshot victim.

When officers arrived, they said Ronald met them at the front door and told them his wife Deborah was in the master bedroom.

Police rendered first aid until EMS transported her to a local hospital.

Ronald is currently in the Lorain County Jail and will be back in court on June 16.
