CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The city of Cleveland came to life Friday as the Cavaliers play-in game collided with Guardians Home Opener.

“Obviously, the playoff atmosphere is always fun,” said Cavs fan Sarah Nelson. “Hopefully, the Cavs can pull one out and extend the season a little bit longer.”

The Cavs need to beat the Atlanta Hawks to get in the play-offs, a team that’s beaten the Cavs the last three meetings. If they lose, the season ends.

“I hope so,” said Jessica Olvera, walking alongside Nelson. “We’re all hoping for it.”

Cavs All-Star center Jarrett Allen is a game-time decision, questionable for the Cavs biggest game of the year after missing more than a month.

“I don’t think it’s a ‘can.’ I think it’s ‘definitely going to win.’ I don’t think they can let the fans down at home,” said Cavs fan David Romano of the their chances. “So win or go home! One-and-done, so the Cavs get it done tonight.”

A tailgate set up outside Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, initially for the Guardians home opener but not for both big games.

“It’s going to be electric down here,” said Romano. “You got the Cavs in a play-off atmosphere game. The Guardians home opener. Cleveland’s going to be jumping all day "

“I hope it’s going to be crazy,” echoed Olvera. “I hope we have a lot of fun.”

Romano expects more than fun — he expects a victory.

“It will be a huge ‘W’ for the Cavs tonight to get us back in the playoffs, without a certain someone who’s no longer here,” he said.
