35-year-old pedestrian fatally struck on I-90 in Cleveland
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office identified 35-year-old Larry V. Burkett-Uher of Cleveland as the pedestrian fatally struck on I-90 east on Monday afternoon.
Cleveland police said the accident happened around 1:37 p.m. near the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard Exit.
According to police, Burkett-Uher was waiting to cross the highway to pick up a wheel that came off his vehicle.
A Hyundai Azera driven by a 62-year-old man was traveling eastbound on I-90 and struck Burkett-Uher.
Burkett-Uher was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Hyundai was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment.
I-90 east was shut down for about 2.5 hours as crews cleared the scene.
Police said the incident remains under investigation.
