Glenville High student shot at bus stop near school
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Cleveland Metropolitan School District said a person has been detained following a shooting of a 17-year-old male student Tuesday afternoon.
CMSD said the shooting took place at a bus stop near the school around 3:21 p.m.
Officers say the 17-year-old victim was taken to a local hospital, and there is no update on his condition.
The suspect who shot him was inside a car, police said.
CMSD released the following statement regarding the shooting.
The District was made aware of the shooting of a student outside of Glenville High School while at the bus stop (located at East 112th and Lakeview).
The student was promptly transported to Children’s Rainbow Hospital by EMS. A suspect has been detained in connection with the incident. The CMSD Safety and Security team, which received the initial reports of the shooting, is currently confirming whether the detained individual is a CMSD student.
At this time, no other injuries have been reported. Our Safety and Security team is actively cooperating with the Cleveland Police Department (CPD) as the investigation continues.”
