CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO)- The Cleveland man convicted of fatally shooting his mother received a life in prison sentence Friday.
Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason announced Friday that Clifton Onunwor was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
On September 19, 2008, Clifton Onunwor, 23, shot his mother, Diane Onunwor, eight times in her home at 10517 Shale Avenue in Cleveland.
Onunwor tampered with evidence by giving a neighbor shell casings to hide from police and then later told his girlfriend's cousin to hide the gun.
On July 31, 2009, Onunwor was found guilty by a jury of all counts: one count of aggravated murder and two counts of tampering with evidence.
