The body of a 17-year-old boy was pulled from Lake Erie Monday morning, 12 hours after he disappeared while swimming.
Darylle Phoeur went underwater near the CEI Power Plant and Avon Water Works around 6:45PM Sunday. Phoeur was with his uncle, 24-year-old Randy Cham, cousin Devontae Khay and one other person.

Cham started struggling in the water, so Phoeur swam out to help him. Cham was rescued by some swimmers nearby on a raft, but Phoeur went under and couldn't be found.

The Coast Guard deployed their helicopter and dive team in a desperate search for the missing boy.

At 6:30AM Monday, Avon Lake firefighters went back in the water and found Phoeur's body.

Phoeur would have been a senior at John Marshall High School this fall.
