Fight over Jay-Z sends Parma man to prison

A Parma man will spend the next 10 years in prison, after stabbing a man during an argument over rapper Jay-Z.

Ronnie Deaver was sentenced by Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Joan Synenberg Wednesday. On December 31, 2011, Deaver, 32, was having a New Year's Eve party at his Broadview Road apartment.

The 48-year-old victim and Deaver started arguing about music and Jay-Z and Deaver stabbed him in the left side between his upper abdomen and back.

The victim's friend, who noticed the victim bleeding, and the suspects girlfriend, Jennifer Fornari, 32, of Parma, were the only other people in the apartment. The victims friend then drove the victim to the hospital for the treatment of his injuries.

Police later spoke to Fornari who stated that she and the suspect were both at their apartment. Before police arrived, Fornari hid the knife that was used in the stabbing, and when the police arrived, she lied to them about the location of Deaver, who was hiding in the bedroom and then fled through the bedroom window. Deaver was arrested later that evening.

On March 14, 2012, Fornari plead guilty to one count of Tampering with Evidence, and on April 25, 2012, she was sentenced to two years of community control. On November 27, 2012, Deaver plead guilty to one count of Felonious Assault with repeat violent offender specifications.
