The Cleveland Furniture Bank, provider of basic home furnishings to more than 3,000 individuals each year and operator of a self-funding community thrift store to support its work, is in need of furniture donations to continue meeting a growing demand for assistance.

"Donations are down 20 percent in comparison to this time last year at the Cleveland Furniture Bank," said Tom Gaghan, executive director, Cleveland Furniture Bank. "With an increased demand for assistance, and a decrease in donations, we're asking Northeast Ohio residents to consider donating their gently used furniture. We especially need couches, living room chairs and kitchen sets. "

The Furniture Bank will pick-up gently-used furniture from donors in all of Cuyahoga, and portions of Lake, Geauga, Summit, Medina and Lorain counties. A nominal fee of $20 is charged to help cover a portion of gas and operational expenses, but the fee applies to each pick-up, not to each item donated.
