AKRON, OH (WOIO) - A suspected armed robber has been arrested in Akron.
Around 8:30 p.m. Friday night, officers responded to the 100 block of Brittain Road for a man that was involved in two robberies the night before. Cops found Timothy L. McDonald, 26, inside the bathroom at the Dry People's Club. McDonald admitted to being involved in two robberies and was taken into custody without incident. Officers recovered a fake firearm in the toilet tank.
After officers had McDonald in custody, officers were notified of another robbery that happened in the 300 block of Shawnee Path prior to McDonald's arrest. The victim reported he had just delivered food and was approached by McDonald. McDonald asked for a ride to the hospital where he claimed his father had a massive heart attack. The victim let McDonald into his truck. As they drive towards the hospital, McDonald pulled out a handgun and attempted to rob the victim. The victim fought with McDonald over the gun, when McDonald jumped out of the truck and ran. The victim called police to make a report. The victim identified McDonald. McDonald later admitted to the third robbery.
The prior robberies happened on February 13. McDonald allegedly approached a man, 62, in his car and asked for a ride to the hospital. Once inside of the car, McDonald robbed the man of his wallet, money and driver's license.
Several hours later, McDonald approached another man, 28, while in a gas station parking lot. McDonald forced the man into his car at gunpoint and robbed him of money and his driver's license. McDonald fled on foot after the robberies with the victim's belongings.
McDonald is charged with robbery, aggravated robbery and kidnapping.
