Clash over leaf blower leads to deadly shooting
BEDFORD HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) - Two neighbors clashed Wednesday night over a leaf blower - a confrontation that left one man dead and the other in jail, according to police.
The incident began with a verbal argument and quickly escalated.
Neighbors describe Michael A. Davis as a 49-year-old bully who didn't like to listen to other peoples noise, but could care less about the noise he generated at all hours of the day and night -- like mowing grass at 6:00 a.m. or leaf blowing at 10:00 p.m. at night.
"He'd come down here telling me stuff like if you want your son to keep living you better keep him off my walkway," said neighbor Millie Johnson.
Neighbors say Davis not only threatened teens but adults alike. It usually ended with an argument but last night around 7:00 p.m., Andre Jackson seems to have had enough.
The 51-year-old was blowing clippings and leaves into a common area that leads into the driveways of both houses on Fairtree Road. Davis got angry and it was on.
A witness told police that Jackson stepped back a few steps and fired three shots. Only Jackson knows what was said to trigger his anger.
Bedford Heights Police and EMS responded to the scene and transported Davis to South Pointe Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Jackson was arrested at the scene. Detectives are investigating, and charges are expected.
