CAUGHT: Ashland County inmate captured after morning escape


19 Action News Reporter Scott Taylor reports that Jeremy Williamson was just captured in Lexington, Kentucky.

Williamson's mom told sheriff that her son had called her from a Speedway in Lexington.

Sheriff notified Lexington Police who captured him.

An inmate has escaped from the Ashland County jail.

The Ashland County Sheriff's Office said Jeremy Williamson, 34, escaped from the jail at 6:21 a.m. Friday.

He was accidentally released when he claimed he had community service.

Williamson did have community service in August and had changed from the green prison uniform to the community service uniform of blue pants and a white t-shirt.

Authorities said he could be headed to Georgia, where he stated he has relatives.

Currently, Ashland County Sheriff's Deputies, Ashland Police Officers, Ohio Highway Patrol Troopers and the Fugitive Task force are looking for him.
