BEREA, OH (WOIO) - Video obtained by 19 Action News shows a man jumping over a table and struggling with Berea Police when a magistrate threatened him with jail time for a probation violation. Now 18-year-old William Demopoulos is facing new charges for resisting arrest.
The incident happened last Friday. Trouble started when a magistrate demanded Demopoulos's phone and started talking about jail time.
The teen starts to walk out moments later. Then officers lead him back to the bench. But minutes later, he leaps onto a table and gets tackled by police as he heads for the door.
Records show the teen had been hauled into court in recent months on charges including criminal damaging, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and obstructing official business.
Demopoulos's dad told 19 Action News, the teen suffers from something called intermittent explosive disorder. And he had stopped taking his medication.
He's now doing more jail time.
