Reverend Pevec had been serving as Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus with the Diocese since his retirement in 2002. Previously, he served as Auxiliary Bishop and Vicar for Eastern Region for 20 years.
Ordained in 1950, Rev. Pevec served as Parochial Vicar at St. Mary's in Elyria and St. Lawrence. He was also on the faculty at Borromeo Seminary, and the Pastor of St. Vitus for four years.
Bishop Richard Lennon released the following statement on Pevec's passing:
"It is with sadness that I reflect on the sudden death of Cleveland Auxiliary Bishop A. Edward Pevec. I have known Bishop Pevec as a retired Auxiliary Bishop who was beloved by a great number of people as he served the Church for over 60 years as a priest and bishop. Cleveland has witnessed a successor to the Apostles as he lived the three-fold ministry of Jesus; teaching, sanctifying and the guiding of God's people. May he rest in peace as a good and faithful steward of the mysteries of God."
