Lorain man admits to hanging dog

man faces animal cruelty charges after authorities found his Neapolitan Mastiff hanging by its collar from the side of a semi trailer.

Police found the dog on Saturday, January 31 near Euclid Avenue and River Industrial Parkway in Lorain.

36-year-old John Wayne Daughney says he adopted the dog from a neighbor.  He told police he hanged the dog because it was aggressive with his other pets, and he did not want to take care of it anymore.

Police believe the dog was alive when it was hanged by a chain choke collar.

Daughney is due in Lorain Municipal Court on February 10.
