Cleveland Heights businessman will be honored

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) - A special dedication will be held in honor of a businessman shot and killed last year.

Cleveland Heights will dedicate a ball field in honor of Jim Brennan during a special ceremony Saturday, July 11.

The dedication is in partnership with the "We are a Colony" Committee and the Cedar Lee Special Improvement District at the Cleveland Heights Forest Hill Park ball fields.

In a statement, "Jim Brennan was an enthusiastic supporter of our Recreation programs for over twenty years," said Mayor Dennis Wilcox. "He sponsored softball teams and held many an after game celebration at The Colony. This dedication celebrates and honors the energy and commitment Jim brought to our Cleveland Heights community".

The ceremony will be held prior to the All Star games at 4:30 p.m. to dedicate Ball Field #5 as the Jim Brennan Field. Funds raised by the "We are a Colony" Committee and supplemented by the city are being used to purchase and install the sign.

Brennan was murdered June 30, 2014, during a robbery at The Colony. Four suspects, including an employee, were charged. Three are serving life sentences.
