Pet owners flee after attack at dog park
"Throttle" attacked by pit mix at park

STOW, OH (WOIO) - What should have been a nice Sunday walk in the park for Tom Puehler ended at the veterinary hospital.

Puehler says a pit bull mix attacked his small dog at Bow Wow Beach at Silver Springs Park in Stow.

"About our second lap around just out of nowhere this black dog came and just attacked the dog," he said.

Puehler and his friend David Maynard brought three-year-old Husky "Gixxer" and one-and-a-half-year-old Pomeranian "Throttle" to the park.

Both Puehler and Maynard have bite marks, but Throttle is in worse shape. He has stitches and staples that need to come out after being taken into emergency surgery.

So far Puehler says the whole ordeal has cost him more than $4,000.

Instead of taking responsibility, Puehler says the owners of the pit mix grabbed their dog and took off.

"We go to the hose area to rinse off the dog and us, look up and the owners left. They took their dog and left," said Puehler.

Puehler filed a police report and is asking anyone who knows the owners of the pit mix to call the police.

A Go Fund Me page is set up to help with Throttle's expenses.

Puehler says if the pit mix owners come forward and their dog is insured, any money raised will go to charity.
