2 killed in Ashtabula County bulldozer accident

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - A deadly accident involving a bulldozer is under investigation by the Ashtabula County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff William Johnson says around 6 p.m. Monday 44-year-old Kevin Moore and 39-year-old Barb Hammer were killed on West Morgan Road near Route 46 in Plymouth Township.

Authorities say Moore bought the 1968 bulldozer for personal use and had gone to pick it up Monday evening.

Sheriff Johnson says Moore parked about 25 feet in front of the bulldozer while Hammer sat in the car.

Moore was trying to fix the machine when it took off, running him over and hitting Hammer in the car.

The bulldozer kept going, pushing through a field, a fence, across a road and through a ditch before stopping.

The sheriff says they believe this was a tragic accident, but are still trying to piece together what went wrong.
