Arrest made after shots fired near Ashland University
The Cleveland Police Department said the Homicide Unit has been notified after a body was found in the area of West 30th Street and Train Avenue on Sunday.

The Ashland Police Department has nabbed a suspect in the shots that were fired in downtown Ashland over the weekend.

The police determined earlier this week that this was not a random act, and that a certain population of students in Ashland might be a target of violence. The Ashland Police Chief had contacted Ashland University Security and requested that these students remain inside campus buildings as a safety measure.

The Police Chief's discussion with AU Security indicated that the department was actively working on the situation and the Chief called AU Security less than an hour later to report that a suspect had been apprehended and that there was no remaining threat to our students.

Ashland University officials had met with the students involved late this morning to communicate the situation to them and the students remained in a classroom until the "all clear" was given by the Police Chief. We want to convey that the Ashland University campus is not under any threat or restriction, and we are convinced that the issue has been completely resolved.
